According to FM Sitharaman, India is taking action against spam.
According to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the Indian government is taking action against practises like spamming and hacking into personal data, particularly in the banking industry.
At a news conference held here on Saturday, Ms. Sitharaman said the government had withdrawn the previous data protection bill and that the new one will likely be introduced sooner. She was speaking to a group of Indian reporters at the event.
Action is being taken against spam and unwanted calls and messages in the interim. According to FM, the government is making a lot of effort to stop these unethical actions.
Of course, they continue to arrive. It's not as if nothing happened yesterday and nothing has happened today. The administration is very concerned about this issue, and attempts are being made, yet they keep popping up like mushrooms, the finance minister responded to a question.
According to FM, there is a purposeful effort to ensure that the consent of the data owner is used and used for the precise purpose for which the consent was granted, even in the newer data or digital based kind of services that are being supplied to individuals like the account aggregator.
"There is a lot of surveillance going on here, especially in the financial industry, which I watch very closely. We have clamped down hard even on the account aggregator, where we discovered some sort of misuse by some outsourced elements, Ms. Sitharaman added.
"You would have heard about the arrests of some individuals who abused these data apps for money lending. We detained a large number of citizens from one country who were abusing the data, particularly in Andhra and Telangana "FM stated, ostensibly alluding to numerous Chinese nationals.
"Therefore, action and preventative measures are both taking place equally. However, that must naturally continue," the FM stated.
