In a last-ditch effort to survive the economic and political unrest engulfing the nation, British Prime Minister Liz Truss fired her finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng on Friday, just before she is anticipated to abandon portions of their economic package. Mr. Kwarteng claimed that after hastily returning to London from IMF talks in Washington the previous night, he had resigned at Ms. Truss's request.
